This comic is about me -- Melissa Spence Gardner --and I make a fine madcap heiress if I do say so myself. (The trick is to go heavy on
the madcap and pile on the bling when necessary.) I was born in San Francisco. My first memory is peering out of my tye-dye
christening gown and thinking, "Have they discovered Hello Kitty yet?"

By the age of nine all I contributed to society was a piece of yarn I tied to my belt-loop. I called this invention a "tail." Shortly after
the dangling -from-the tree episode I switched to drawing naked ladies. It made me the most popular girl on my school bus.

When I lost a bet to BobCat Goldthwait in a bar in Thailand I suddenly found myself abroad, studying in Scotland. Oddly, I've never
drawn a comic strip that employed Guinness and kilts. I have, however, drawn cheap bastards.

And it probably has occurred to you by now that I'm not really an heiress. But the madcap part applies.

I am never far from my sketchbook. Drawing pictures is my passion. Observing life and putting them in sequential form for you is my
dream. Enjoy.
I was always self-obsessed.
